Published Wednesday 3rd June 2020 Following the decision by the FAW to end the season Josh Evans gave us his thoughts on the premature end to his first campaign in the Welsh League. “I write this a week after our season has been brought to a premature end. Whilst I am disappointed that the FAW didn’t decide to play out the remainder of the season when it is safe to do so, the simple fact that we do not know when that will be made the decision inevitable. Putting my views aside for a moment, I would like to put on record my sincere thanks to my players, the committee and the club’s fans for their hard work, commitment and support this season. I’d also like to single out Andy Protheroe who follows us home and away traveling from Telford and back on match day. His commitment to our club is fantastic. On a personal note, I am extremely disappointed that the team and I were denied the opportunity to improve our position in the league. Having played just four home games all season, it seems entirely unfair that our final position was based upon an average of points from 12 away games and 4 home games with no weighting to account for the undoubted advantage that home football brings. We are now left in limbo. We have tremendous facilities at Aberaman Park and are likely to achieve a Tier 3 Licence, but we do not know whether we will be in the new Cymru League 1 or whether we will be relegated to the South Wales Alliance League. No matter the outcome of the Tier 3 review in the coming weeks, this football club will still be here. It’s been in existence in its various guises for 122 years and it will be ready to compete in 2020/21 whenever it is able to begin and whatever league the FAW decide to put us in. I sign off for the season by wishing you and your families good health as we continue to fight this virus together. Thank you again for your support and I look forward to seeing you all at Aberaman Park next season”.
