Published Saturday 11th July 2020 Yesterday was a disappointing day for the supporters, committee, players and everyone associated with Aberdare Town FC. Firstly, the committee offers their collective congratulations to all the clubs that have achieved their place in the new Tier 3 League system. We wish you well for the season and will look on enviously as you compete in the league’s inaugural season. We might even try and make it to a few games on free weekends. Naturally, we’re disappointed that we will not be in the new Tier 3 League. We have been relegated having played just 13 games last season, only 4 of which were at home. The rights and wrongs of the decision to end the season on an unweighted PPG basis can be debated ad infinitum but we consider that it’s not unreasonable of us to feel aggrieved to be the only team that achieved Tier 3 status in the old Welsh League system to have missed out. We have asked the FAW to clarify the rationale behind that decision and we await their reply. We’re down, but not out. That’s the beauty of league football, it goes on, no matter what level we’re playing at. With this in mind, we now turn our attention to preparing for a successful campaign in the South Wales Alliance League Premier Division. We look forward to new opponents, new grounds and renewing some old rivalries. The Alliance Premier is a difficult league with a number of good teams, we’re under no illusion of the challenge ahead of us to get into Tier 3. Whilst we’re disappointed, we’ll be ready come kick off on the first weekend of the season, whenever that will be. We will not stop on our journey to continue to improve our facilities, our infrastructure and the community vision that we, as a committee, believe in. #uppatown
