Aberdare
Town
are
delighted
to
confirm
that
they
have
appointed
Ian
Ross
as
their
official
Club Chaplain.
As
part
of
this
appointment,
the
Club
and
Ian
have
signed
up
jointly
with
the
charity
‘Sports
Chaplaincy
UK
in
a
three
way
partnership
entering
into
agreement
with
its
national
codes
of
practice.
Following
an
approach
to
Ian
by
the
Club
and
after
initial
discussions
took
place,
he
registered
officially
with
‘Sports
Chaplaincy
UK’,
undertook
the
required
training
and
then,
along
with
representatives
of
the
Committee
met
(virtually!)
with
Steve
Jones
of
the
charity
to
confirm
his
appointment
and
sign
the
codes
of
practice
to
become
one
of
the
few
football
clubs
in
Wales
registered.
Upon
his
appointment
Ian
said:
“"I'm
absolutely
delighted
to
be
of
service
to
you
all
at
Aberdare
Town
FC,
and
to
being
available
to
provide
a
listening
ear
(in
total
confidence)
and
pastoral
support
for
all
players,
club
personnel,
and
families.
I
come
appointed
to
this
role
through
Sports
Chaplaincy
UK,
a
registered
UK
Charity
that
specialises
in
the
provision
of
Sports
Chaplaincy.
Some
may
already
know
me
through
my
ongoing
work
as
Minister
of
Bryn
Sion
Baptist
Church
in
Trecynon.
I
am
so
looking
forward
to
meeting,
further
introducing
myself
and
my
role,
and
getting
to
know you all soon! I'm here to help."
With
the
Club
moving
towards
a
new
model
over
the
last
two
years
and
building
more
of
a
community
focus
by
officially
bringing
all
parts
together
under
the
one
umbrella,
speaking
for
the
Club,
General
Manager
Ian
Pearce
was
pleased
to
welcome
Ian
to
his
new
role:
“We
are
thrilled
that
Ian
has
agreed
to
join
us
and,
also
being
a
big
football
fan
himself,
will
no
doubt
be
a
great
asset
to
everybody
involved
with
the
Club
as
somebody
we
can
all
turn
to
in
the
time
of
need
or
just
to
know
there
is
somebody
there
to
talk
too
-
this
isn’t
about
imposing
beliefs
it
is
solely
something
that
we
as
a
Club
wish
to
provide
to
promote
and
aid
the
well
being
of
everybody”.
A
dedicated
mailbox
will
be
set-up
for
anybody
to
contact
Ian
confidentially
and
he
will
be
coming
around
to
see
all
the
teams
to
introduce himself when we are able.
