During   the   summer,   and   as   the   Euro2020   championships   were   getting   underway,   the   world   of   football   stopped with   the   horrific   news   of   what   happened   to   Denmark’s   Christian   Eriksen   as   he   suffered   a   heart   attack   and required CPR in the first half of their game against Finland. It   is   not   the   first   time   this   has   happened   on   a   sporting   pitch,   and   sadly   probably   won’t   be   the   last,   so   what   is   really important is to ensure that sports facilities have the best medical equipment that they can - as it really can save lives. After   the   incident   on   that   Saturday   the   Club’s   committee   were   speaking   about   fund   raising   to   purchase   a   defibrillator which   would   be   based   at   Aberaman   Park,   to   the   Club’s   surprise   and   delight   Local   Medical   Services,   who   have   been involved with Aberdare for the last few seasons as a brilliant sponsor, offered to purchase one for us! Local   Medical   Services   Managing   Director   Shaun   Fletcher   sad   of   their   decision:   “We   wanted   to   ensure   the   safety   of   all our   friends   down   at Aberdare   Town   Football   Club.      We   have   provided   lifesaving   equipment   to   ensure   that   can   preserve the lives of anybody who may need it” Club   Secretary   David   Sweet   said   of   the   enormously   kind   donation:   “We   can’t   thank   Shaun,   Ellie   and   all   at   Local   Medical Services   enough   for   what   they   have   done   for   us.      When   we   all   saw   what   happened   to   Christian   this   summer   we   knew we   had   to   do   something   and   quickly,   it   had   actually   been   something   we   had   been   talking   about   last   year   as   one   of   our aims to have one at the ground, but this just brought it home even more”. On behalf of everybody at Aberdare Town Football Club - THANK YOU LMS!
