Aberdare Town senior men’s team celebrated what turned out to be an excellent season with the largest gathering for an adult presentation evening at Aberaman Park for some time. The evening was compered by Club Secretary David Sweet who highlighted the key moments of the season including the appointment of Ryan Betteney last summer who has reinvigorated the Club as well as the youth players who have come through our system and now playing a major part in the squad. First up a presentation was made of ATFC t-shirts to some of the fathers of the players who have traveled home and away this season supporting the team with Graham Jones, Paul Jones, Peter Olson, Adrian Davies, Chris Welch and Richard Jones all being recognised. The first main award was the Supporters Player of the Year which was presented by former Chairman Richard Rowlands who expressed his thanks to the team for providing such an enjoyable season and named Leon Jacka as the recipient of this season’s award. The Clubman of the Year award was named next with Richard Evans picking up this prestigious award for all his hard work on helping start up our new pub sports teams as well as helping on matchdays both around the ground and running the line. Next up, General Manager Ian Pearce made a presentation on behalf of the entire Club to David Sweet for recognition of his superb efforts as Club Secretary keeping things ticking over for all our teams. Goal of the season was the next award which was presented by committee member Carwyn Speck and the trophy went to Owen Jones for his acrobatic overhead kick against Penrhiwfer in the league cup victory. Players Player of the Year was announced by Alex Adshead with skipper Leon Jacka picking up his second award of the night and that was quickly followed by the 39 goal striker also claiming the Manager’s Player award presented by Ryan Betteney. Assistant Manager Will Eastwood was next up to announce the Young Player of the Year which was a tough decision with so many excellent performances throughout the year by our young side but the award deservedly was handed to Aaron Rowling. Club Chairman Garry Williams then made a speech thanking his committee for their efforts this season - with Ray Pearce and Steve Pearce having special mention. Garry then went on to announce the final award of the night of the Player of the Year and again this went to Leon Jacka. The presentations completed it was left to celebrate the season with DJ SWS delighting the crowd along some vocal exploits by the squad (notable mention to Alex Adshead for this tribute to Robbie Williams)!. #uppatown
