With just two games remaining of what has been an enjoyable and successful season, culminating in achieving our primary aim of a top six finish, we are delighted to announce that Manager Ryan Betteney will continue with the Club for the foreseeable future. Ryan has received the full backing of the Club to remain with Aberdare for the long term as we all aim to continue with the important work that has been undertaken on and off the pitch. A long term strategy has been the clubs intention over the past few seasons, and also last summer, however Ryan was keen to steady the ship, before talking about any longer term planning. Ryan, his assistant Will Eastwood, coach Paul Searl, captain Leon Jacka and all the players brought into the club last summer, have really helped in bringing the club together. This has given our excellent group of youngsters, who have progressed from the mini, junior and then youth sides we have, a great platform to develop, which has been our main aim for a considerable time to develop players from within. Now we have steadied the ship, we are keen ourselves, to allow this team and group to grow together, and hopefully lead us back to where we believe it belongs. Ryan has said of the discussion: “Everyone this season has given everything - from the committee, mini and junior coaches which was all summed up last Saturday seeing so many people turning up from within our set-up to help get the game on against Clwb Cymric. Everything that was discussed and promised last summer by the Club has been delivered”. “So many clubs are struggling for players, volunteers, teams or facilities so to be part of this club, where it probably just needed a bit of direction on the pitch, is a pleasure to be part of. “I look forward to working with everyone over the next few years, as we now have the even tougher task, of taking this group of players, and club back up through the leagues and a return to the Ardal League (formerly the Welsh League) and then on again”. Club Secretary David Sweet was equally as optimistic for the future: "For the first time in many years, all aspects of the club appear to be moving in the right direction. On the pitch, Ryan and his coaching staff have been able to integrate a number of players from our talented youth side into the first team and has added the right balance of experience to the mix, such that we have seen significant progress since the turn of the year, culminating in us securing a top 5 finish. “Off the pitch, the committee has been working hard to maintain and improve the facilities at the club to give Ryan and his team the best possible platform to achieve their ambitions as well as our own. I'm delighted that the vision we discussed when Ryan first took over is well underway and now is the right time to reaffirm our commitment to that vision and plan for the long term with Ryan leading the way." Our presentation evening will be held this Saturday at Aberaman Park starting at 7pm with the bar open from 6pm - we look forward to seeing you all there for what promises to be a fitting end to an excellent season. #uppatown #bePARTofIT
