The end of the season has seen the departure from the Club of Paul Searl who, through work, is moving abroad. Everybody at the Club wishes Paul, his son Noah who has also played for the Club, and the whole family all the best for the future as they make the amazing move away and we thank them for their superb efforts while with Aberdare Town. Noah joined at the start of last season and despite his young age soon ended up being a regular in the squad while Paul then joined up as part of the coaching team as Assistant Manager. Later last season he then took on the role of caretaker manager and saw us through a difficult spell ensuring we completed the campaign. With Ryan Betteney taking on the managers position last summer Paul stayed on as part of the backroom team but soon ended up becoming the Clubs main ‘keeper until work took him away after Christmas. Before leaving he managed to get another appearance in as he played between the sticks in the last game against AFC Penrhiwceiber. However, on the pitch fans will no doubt remember season 2021/22 when Paul scored twice in a matter of minutes after coming on as substitute at Grange Albion in a 4-0 win. With the news of Paul’s departure Ryan commented: “Paul has been immense since we got here, and when the Club really needed some stability. He’s helped with everything, coaching, attracting players, getting the gloves back on - there is actually too much to mention. “Personally, I would like to wish him all the best, and I know he will be sorely missed by the group, the Club but nobody more than myself and Will”. Stats: Paul Searl 21 appearances | 2 goals Noah Searl 33 appearances | 2 goals
