Our amazing youth team completed a dream season, winning the South Wales Youth League Cup to bring back to Aberaman Park a league and cup double. Having already wrapped up the league title a couple of weeks ago, a league cup semi-final win on Thursday in front of a packed crowd at CF44 set up the opportunity for an historic double where they would take on Llantwit Fardre who had also won their own division. With the game played at Rhydyfelin on a scorching hot afternoon the Aberdare team were supported with a fantastic turnout of supporters who would cheer them on as they looked to write their names in the club folklore. The opening half of the game was an even affair with both teams testing each other. Just 7 minutes after the restart Aberdare found themselves ahead with top scorer Harri Jones converting an assist from Louis Mullins. It got even better just after the hour as Aaron Rowling set-up Adam Lewis to double the advantage and give the supporters one hand on the trophy. With just a minute to go Llantwit Fardre were awarded a penalty which was converted to set up a nervy last few minutes. However, with them searching for an equalizer, Evan Olson collected the ball from Ethan Wigmore and sprinted forward past the last defender to bury the ball to the jubilation of the team and fans alike. The final whistle started the celebrations that would then go on for several hours back at Aberaman Park as the curtain comes down on what was a truly memorable season. This group of players and coaches have been amazing ambassadors for the Club with the majority of them being together since the age of 5 as the end of an era concludes but will just be the start for a talented group of players. Congratulations to all for giving the Club so many happy memories as they are now firmly in the record books as THE INVINCIBLES. Team: Dylan Pearce, Finaly Watts, Brychan Davies (Ethan Wigmore ‘40), Josh Evans, Aaron Rowling, Brooke Fraser (Shay Welch ‘73), Harri Jones (Cameron McHale ‘65), Louis Mullins (Evan Olson ‘64), Jenson Price (Gabe Butts ‘79), Owen Jones, Adam Lewis
