Aber have been handed a home tie in the 2nd qualifying round of the JD Welsh Cup. Following the Town’s 3-1 win on Saturday against Tongwynlais the draw was made live on Red Wall + and Aberdare will be facing Newport Corinthians with a place in the first round at stake. Newport are playing this season in the Ardal South East League having progressed from the Gwent Premier Division last season. They booked their trip to Aberdare with a 4-2 win on their travels at Sifil FC from the Gwent Premier Division and had to come from two behind to book passage to the draw. So far this season in the league they have drawn 1-1 at Abercarn United and beat Goytre (Gwent) 2-1 also on the road.
