Aberdare Town are delighted to announce that Dean Raven has accepted the position of manager. Dean is no stranger to the Club having played for Town back in season 2019/20 and has also played for Cardiff Corinthians, AFC Porth and St Josephs. Most recently he was in charge of Ardal South West side Treharris Athletic Western where he inherited a squad with only three players at the start of last season and managed to steer them to safety against all the odds with an amazing end to the campaign that saw them lose just once in the last eight games. Speaking on his appointment Dean said: “I am delighted to be the new Manager of Aberdare Town. Having spent a short time here a few years ago as a player I always felt that I had some unfinished business here, so when the job came up I felt like it was the logical choice. “This Club has a fantastic set-up off the field and you can already see how professional things are run and the facilities are superb. We have a great group of players already in place but hopefully with a few additions that I will look to bring in, coupled with the work we will do on the training pitch, the Club will no doubt be in a better position in the league sooner rather than later. “There is also a great group in the youth team so I want to ensure there is a clear pathway for them to be able to aspire to become a first team player here. That is a massive things for me to allow local young Aberdare players to have something to strive towards”. Dean has already been busy in the role having met with the existing backroom staff, who will all remain in their roles, along with senior players and the youth team management last night. He has moved to strengthen the off field team with the addition of Luke Raven as first aider and promoting Kellan Webb into the coaching set-up. Dean will meet the squad for the first time at training on Thursday and will take charge of Saturday’s away game at Treforest. We welcome Dean back to ATFC and look forward to welcoming his family to the Easy Panels Stadium soon.
