ended up being abandoned on 67 minutes with the hosts leading 6-0. The   pitch   was   very   heavy   from   the   start   and   with   both   teams   not   warming   up   on   the   pitch   to   try   and   keep   it   playable   the   continual   rain   meant Aberdare   struggled   from   the   start   while the Buds would go in at the break 2-0 ahead. The   heavens   opened   further   during   the   half-time   break   and   it   became   monsoon   like   during   the   second   half   with   the   hosts   notching   4   more   times.      The   final   goal   all   came   from   an Aberdare   attack   with   a   pass   stopping   because   of   the   water   soaked   surface   and   a   quick   ball   forward   saw   the   ball   buried   into   the   net.      The   referee   immediately   spoke   with   one   of   his assistants and after trying to role the ball in the centre circle he blew his whistle to the unhappiness of the home side. Although tough to take for the hosts it was the right decision and in truth the game should maybe have never been started on such a heavy surface. Wednesday 23rd January 2019 Martyn Phillips appointed DofF Aberdare Town have appointed Martyn Phillips as the Clubs Director of Football. Martyn,   who   has   been   playing   for   Aberdare   this   season   in   his   second   spell,   has   been   handed   the   task   of   helping   build   the   football   side   of   the   Club   and   will   work   closely   with manager Simon Jones. Chairman   Garry   Williams   said   of   the   appointment:   “Martyn   knows   the   Club,   knows   local   football   and   has   played   Welsh   League   football   too.      He   knows   what   we   are   trying   to   build and   where   both   the   Committee   and   Simon   (Jones)   see   things   going.      This   role   is   seen   as   being   able   to   complement   and   help   Simon   as   team   manager   and   he   of   course   retains   all decisions   on   the   first   team   and   its   selection.      While   we   have   our   ideas   on   how   we   see   the   role   developing   it   is   something   that   will   continue   to   evolve   and   we   can   only   see   it   as   a benefit to help move us forward”.
