A dry and pleasant afternoon saw another important fixture for Aberdare as they
hosted Heolgerrig after an early season 5-5 in the reverse fixture but were to fall to
a second consecutive 1-3 loss.
The pitch had recovered well after the recent rain, both sides making a lively start with Aber attacking
the Town end.
The 11th minute saw an away ball in from the left easily knocked home at the far post for 1-0.
The guests developed attacks which, on 27 minutes, led to the hosts unable to clear as a second was
easily rolled in.
It got worse on 41 minutes as a left side cross was again not dealt with for a comfortable 3-0 lead for
the visitors.
However, a fine Jack Salmon free kick from the edge of Heolgerrig's box curled into the far corner to
give Aber some hope right on half-time.
Straight from the start of the second 45 Cai Mckenzie was through but shot straight at the away
'keeper and, on the hour, was to suffer the same outcome.
Aber's second half showing was better and showed some nice build-ups but the guests weathered
the home efforts.
Player Manager Kellan Webb emptied his bench in an attempt to get back in the game, Nathan Sage,
full of effort and commitment in a cameo performance that earned the player of the match award,
having his shot blocked to sum up Aberdare's afternoon.
No further alarms as the guests comfortably held on to the 3-1 score-line.
