Manager Kellan Webb introduced 3 new players to his starting line-up for this
important fixture at Pentre 3G and recorded a 3-1 success over Porth Harlequins.
New No.1 was Sam Josey, Floran Disco in central defence and striker Victor Angaye while there was
also returns for Kai Davies and Rufaro Gunundu on the bench.
A mercifully dry but chilly afternoon saw a good attendance as both sides enjoyed early attacks,
Oscar Din being thwarted by the home 'keeper while a fourteenth minute Jack Salmon effort was
dealt with.
On the half-hour Josey got down to tip away a home attempt with the resulting corner headed over.
The 37th minute saw a Salmon corner firmly headed home by Player of The Match Disco for a 1-0
Aber interval lead.
The start of the second 45 saw the hosts free on the right-hand side but the chance was put over.
The 52nd minute saw a Salmon free-kick cleared as far as Jackson Barker cutting in from the right
and crossing for Angaye to stoop and head Aber into a 2 goal lead.
Porth then enjoyed a considerable number of free kicks and corners which were dealt with by the
away side with Webb emptying the bench as the game progressed.
However, the 80th minute saw a home left side cross headed home for 1-2.
Porth had a fine chance of getting level with 1 minute of normal time left but could not convert.
The excellent referee proceeded to allow 10 minutes of added time which the Aber contingent were
only happy with when Angaye held off a home defender and crossed to Rofaro Gunundu who netted
a vital third goal for the visitors.
Despite an Aber goal-line clearance there were no further alarms as Aber saw the game out.
A fine contest and an important 3 points for a clearly together Aberdare squad.
