A glorious afternoon saw a vital chance of a double for Aberdare having defeated
Porth Harlequins 3-1 earlier in the season but succumbed to defeat with a goal in
each half.
Lucas Lohuis and Floran Disco returned to the starting line up while there was a start from Matt
Owen, a former Aber player who joined on deadline day.
Aber attacked the Town end and a first minute Jack Salmon 30 yard free kick was held by the away
'keeper.
Both sides enjoyed early forays, Victor Angaye heading away a 13th minute corner from Porth's left.
A 17th minute move down their right saw Porth's effort over the bar, Cai McKenzie cutting in from the
hosts left to win a fruitless corner.
Angaye had an attempt go wide before, on the half-hour, the visitors right side corner was met just
outside the area and a low drive went through everyone to gain a 1-0 lead.
The 38th minute saw an Owen long throw fall to Southern Rowlands whose effort was well saved by
the visiting custodian to leave the half-time score as 0-1.
The interval saw a well deserved presentation of medals and league title shield to Aberdare Under
16's for winning the League.
A 56th minute away move was headed wide before, on the hour, an unfortunate handball saw Porth
convert the resulting penalty for 2-0. The introduction of several home substitutes, including the
enthusiastic Jack Williams who had been part of the half time Under 16 celebrations, saw an
increased Aber resilience.
Owen saw an effort go narrowly wide while Porth were happy to defend solidly and hit their hosts on
the break until an added time Angaye header could not give Aberdare some late consolation.
The defeat leaves Aber plenty to do in their last two games, Llanrumney are the visitors on Saturday
25th April at 2.30pm.
