An important fixture for both sides as Aberdare hoped to gain revenge for an earlier
2-5 defeat at Splott but went down to a 2-4 loss.
Jackson Barker and Cai McKenzie returned to the home line-up on a dry but windy afternoon.
Aber attacked the Town end but the fifth minute saw an away freekick from 30 yards hit the post and
tapped home but was ruled offside.
Victor Angaye was denied from close range soon after with Aber 'keeper Sam Josey also keeping out
an away effort.
The 28th minute saw a fine ball from Player of The Match Southern Rowlands find Angaye who was
again thwarted.
The half-hour saw the visitors benefit from an unlucky break of the ball to go 1-0 up. Immediately, a
Splott back pass to their No.1 was seized on by Angaye to win the battle and roll home for 1-1.
Rowlands sent Barker through for an attempt which went wide as half-time saw no further incident.
Aber were to go 2-1 up in the 55th minute as Barker sent Angaye in for a neat finish but Splott soon
put a far post header wide before equalizing on 63 as a flicked header went just inside the far post.
On 68 minutes Angaye was through again but was stopped by Splott's 'keeper.
With Manger Kellan Webb introducing his substitutes the game was in the balance. However, the
82nd minute saw an away break down their left halted inside the box by Alex Jacklin, conceding a
penalty and a second yellow card and consequent red.
The spot-kick was slotted home and the game was wrapped up in the 87th minute when a left side
cross was easily converted for the final 2-4 result
Obvious disappointment for Aberdare after a much improved performance against a top 2 side. After
a two week break Aberdare host Porth Harlequins in a vital clash on April 18th with a 2.30 start.
