The final match of a difficult season saw Aberdare needing to gain a victory at Tongwynlais, which they achieved with a fine 1-0 result and the first away clean sheet of the league season. As so often has been the case Kellan Webb had to make enforced changes due to unavailability but his charges gave him everything for 90 minutes. A sparse attendance, although another good turnout from Aber supporters, on a drizzly afternoon and a grassy pitch saw an attritional first half-hour with both sides taking turns to attack without troubling the respective 'keepers. However, the hosts broke through on 35 minutes but, although rounding Aber No.1 Dan Field, the attempt came back off the post. Despite further forays neither side could break through to end a goalless first half. As the rain intensified throughout the second half, the hosts were in on goal on 63 minutes but Field did well to block the close range effort. Immediately Jacob Blake sent Jack Salmon away down the right. His excellent ball across the box saw Under 16's Ellis Lewis latch on to net with a composed finish, 1-0 and delight for the Aber contingent. On 65 minutes the home side blazed over a good opportunity as Aberdare defended manfully, the sporadic away counters led by Player of the Match Victor Angaye who troubled the home back-line throughout the afternoon. With the visiting supporters checking their phones from news in the Llanrumney game, Webb introduced his substitutes as the half wore on and making his debut Fin Williams from the bench completed a superb last ditch tackle to thwart another attack. Tongwynlais were pressuring their visitors with the home custodian going up for late home free kicks and corners. Eventually the final whistle saw an excellent Aberdare performance appreciated by their followers. Credit to the whole squad for such an outstanding effort, the final league standings not in their control with the threat of relegation to the AVFL looming large. Team: Dan Field, Jackson Barker (Fin Williams), Elliott Hewings, Floran Disco, Callum Tandy, Oscar Din, Jacob Blake (Lucas Lohuis), Southern Rowlands, Victor Angaye, Jack Salmon, Ellis Lewis (Sam Dancer) Sub not use: Kellan Webb Player of the Match: Victor Angaye
