Match report by Ian Pearce The   saying   goes   that   it   isn’t   over   till   the   fat   lady   sings….   well   for Aberdare   Town’s   survival   hopes   in   Division   Two   she   is   already   clearing   her   throat   ready   to   blast   out those devastating notes. In   a   season   that   everybody   knew   was   going   to   be   tough,   this   latest   defeat   see Aberdare Town   12   points   from   safety   with   only   8   games   remaining,   although   having   played   11   games more than the team in 14th and with this game against Dinas Powys it was a great chance to give just the slimmest of chances against another struggling outfit, but it wasn’t to be. In as early as the third minute Aberdare had a massive let off as poor play let former Aber striker Myles Case in on goal but he was denied by Callum Dunning with a smart save. Two minutes later and the hosts carved out their first chance as a cross from Scott Griffiths was headed by Cory Thomas but the strikers header was deflected over the bar. It was a scrappy opening 25 minutes with both teams showing why they are at the foot of the table as chances were limited at either end. However,   the   visitors   struck   the   opening   goal,   which   was   always   going   to   be   key   in   this   relegation   tussle,   on   26   minutes   as   a   mistake   in   midfield   gave   Bryl   the   simplest   of   chances as he bore down on Dunning to strike home. On   39   minutes   the   decisive   second   arrived   for   Dinas   Powys   as   a   quick   throw   by   the   keeper   saw   them   escape   down   the   left   and   after   skipping   past   challenges   Palmer   evaded   the offside trap and put a dangerous ball across the face of goal which Perrett was on hand to roll home. Half Time: Aberdare Town 0-2 Dinas Powys To be fair, Aberdare gave a much better account of themselves in the second half with Brad Lewis going closest on more than one occasion. It   wasn’t   a   great   spectacle   for   the   small   crowd   gathered   at Aberaman   Park   and   after   Dunning   had   pulled   off   a   couple   of   customary   saves   to   once   again   pick   up   the   FineClub.co.uk   Man of the Match award there seemed little reward for the hussle and bustle of the Aberdare attacks which pettered out all too easily. The   third   goal   arrived   with   7   minutes   left   on   the   clock   as   Griffiths   upended   a   striker   in   the   box   (he   had   conceded   two   penalties   in   the   reverse   fixture   too!)   and   Emanuel   stepped   up   to score the spot kick giving Dunning no chance. The teams moves onto promotion chasing Monmouth Town next in a tough away game.
