Almost   a   perfect   away   trip   for   a   resurgent   Aberdare   side   and   their   fans   as,   only   an   outstanding   display   by   home keeper Ben Stitfall, and a very late equalizer denied the visitors another win. Manager Terry   Fitzpatrick   was   again   forced   into   changes   with   injury   absence   of   Niall   Jones   and Abs   Camara,   who   will   require an operation and miss the majority if not all of the remainder of the season, from the previous victory.  On   a   very   warm   afternoon   on   a   3G   pitch   at   Cardiff   University,   Aberdare   again   notched   an   early   goal   after   3   minutes   when Sanna Jawo's shot was blocked, the ball spinning onto the crossbar and falling for Aaron Rees to knock it home.  The game then evolved into an end to end contest as the visitors adopted a high line and often catching their hosts offside. On   35   minutes   Llanrumney   broke   through   but   Ioan   Protheroe   was   quickly   out   to   close   down   the   attacker   and   the   ball   was cleared. After the hosts had a 39th minute cross from the left go wide, half time saw Aberdare with a 1-0 lead. 56   minutes   saw   the   home   side   create   a   chance   which   Protheroe   saved   with   a   dive   to   his   left,   but,   on   the   hour,   Aaron   Rees evaded   a   challenge   outside   the   penalty   area   and   produced   a   superb   drive   to   put   Aberdare   2-0   up   with   his   fourth   goal   in   the last three outings. bottom corner gave the home side momentum. The   hosts   continued   to   attack   with   chances   across   the   6   yard   box   being   narrowly   missed   or   well   cleared   by   the   Aberdare     defence. Aberdare counter attacked well and with 3 superb saves by the home No.1 preventing the visitors from securing a win. After   a   close   range   83rd   minute   bad   miss   for   the   home   side,   they   stunned   their   visitors   with   a   drive   from   the   edge   of   the penalty area by Chris Daves which gave Protheroe no chance with just a minute left on the clock.  Well   into   added   time,   Jawo   tried   to   break   through   but   was   stopped   by   a   home   players   high   arm   around   the   neck   which, despite   giving   a   free   kick   the   referee   took   a   lenient   view   to   a   sending   off,   Liam   Pryor's   free   kick   clearing   the   crossbar   with   full time then called. A fine performance from Aberdare  which ,hopefully will continue with the visit of Bridgend Street next weekend.
