Match report by Ray Pearce Picture by Beth Kelly After a morning pitch inspection at Garw it was obvious that the pitch would cut up as the match progressed and the rain returned but despite the conditions Aber came away with three points. A good attitude was needed to take on the side at the foot of the league. After Aber had gone close with some early attempts, it was the hosts who provided some dangerous aerial efforts, Callum Dunning doing particularly well to save one at the foot of his post after 7 minutes. However, the 14th minute saw Leon Jacka run through, round the 'keeper and roll home the first away goal. Garw were not going to let this disrupt them but could not find a decisive reply. Dunning was instrumental in setting up Aber's second as his long ball down the centre saw Jacka tuck his strike inside the Garw right post. Into the second half and it was certain that the next goal would be important in the context of the match, Player of the Match Jacka settling the large Aber following with a low third strike from the edge of the box on 54 minutes. Aber's Owen Jones was dismissed for 2 yellow cards and the hosts put their guests under considerable pressure. This was rewarded with a strange goal which seemed to bypass everyone in the area. Now the home side were really pushing on, the away defence battling hard to repel the attacks with saves, blocks and a header off the line. Fortunately, the 80th minute saw Aberdare break with Connor Berry striding in to net his team's fourth. So that was the final score as the appreciative Aberdare support saluted their side after a tough encounter in difficult conditions. TEAM: Callum Dunning, Jordan Jones (Sam Weaver ‘83), Brychan Davies, Jack Bethell (Aaron Rowling ‘61), Alex Adshead, Owen Jones, Leon Jacka (Evan Olson ‘85), Josh Davies, Connor Berry (Sam Weston Sheppard ‘88), Dan Collins (Cameron McHale ‘87), Shay Welch
