Match report by Ray Pearce Picture by Beth Kelly After the recent inclement weather, sunshine greeted the two sides as the visiting league leaders defended the Town end for the first half in a game that would be a classic South Wales Alliance League Championship game in front of a sizeable crowd at Aberaman Park. Within 2 minutes the visitors had gone 1 -0 ahead as a rasping 25 yard drive gave Dylan Pearce no chance in the home goal. Aber's neat passing, particularly down their right with Evan Olson prominent led to a couple of near misses in the away goalmouth. Pearce did well on 24 minutes to thwart an away attack. On the half-hour a Leon Jacka free kick saw close range efforts blocked before Josh Davies knocked in the equalizer. Olson soon had a good drive parried by the Llantwit 'keeper but 42 minutes saw the prolific Ryan Prosser head home a right side corner for a 2-1 Llantwit lead. A Jordan Jones good ball in was not capitalized on as the half-time whistle blew. A 55th minute link up between Dan Collins and Olson had no result, just 3 minutes later Jacka took advantage of an away lapse to rifle a 25 yarder for a 2-2 score-line. Just after the hour, Prosser almost put his side ahead with a header just missing the far post. The home team and supporters were on a high after 70 minutes as Shay Welch rolled in for a 3-2 advantage after a fine team build up. It was obvious that the guests would put their hosts under severe pressure as they had not lost an away league game this season. A 78th minute away header went over the bar while the entire home team defended manfully. Blocked shots and a brave Pearce grab kept Aber ahead. After 7 plus minutes of added time the referee blew the final whistle to the joy of all associated with Aberdare.
