Match report by Ray Pearce Picture by Beth Kelly After last season's 6-1 defeat on a windy day by the sea, Aberdare were greeted by a hot but relatively still afternoon as they visited Sully Sports, the hosts already having scored 16 times in their first 3 home fixtures. Callum Dunning was back in goal and Shay Welch came in for the unavailable Connor Berry. Aaron Rowling started again in midfield in what was his 50th appearance for the senior team at only the age of 18. A quick start saw Leon Jacka going close after 11 minutes, Sully almost taking advantage of a momentary lapse by Aber to shoot wide a minute later. However, on 18 minutes, Sully's Boyce nipped into the 6 yard box to flip a shot past Aber's Callum Dunning for a home lead. Just 4 minutes later the visitors were level as a Jacka shot was saved, Dan Collins knocking in the equaliser. 38 minutes saw a superb cross-field ball from Owen Jones to Brychan Davies, his cross back into the centre being headed home by Evan Olson. Dunning then did well to fist away a home cross as half-time saw Aber with a 2-1 advantage. The start of the second half saw Aber on the front foot as a 55th minute close range effort was cleared from near the home goal-line. The away support were more than happy after 63 minutes as, Player of the Match, Collins gained possession to set up Jacka for a comfortable third goal. Into the last quarter of the match and Sully started to exert more pressure on the away side. All was repelled until a shout for offside was dismissed with Evans setting up McInerny for a 2-3 score-line. 3 minutes of the 90 were left when Dunning went low to tip away a Sully attempt. Into the 6th minute of injury time he maintained Aber's lead with an outstanding tip over the bar. A couple of more minutes saw an ecstatic Aberdare contingent celebrate a fine away win at a ground where Sully had only lost 2 league games in the previous campaign.
