Report by: Ray Pearce Photo by: Beth Kelly Photography A glorious afternoon saw Aberdare make the trip to newly promoted Bettws who had won their first two home league fixtures without conceding. Liam Miles had followed Jay Smith to Ton Pentre while Ashton Francis-Carrington returned to the Aber defence. After a quick start the home side went ahead on 10 minutes from a free kick, Dylan Pearce saved well but Bettws were more alert in tucking in the rebound. Aber mounted some neat attacks, the home No.1 saving well from close range on 13 minutes. Luke Boyle rolled an Aber chance wide on 18 minutes before a home effort deflected by the away back line saw a comfortable 2-0 finish. However, a Leon Jacka corner on 23 minutes saw Francis-Carrington head his first Aber goal for 2-1. Sam Weaver hooked a home effort off the line with Pearce keeping his side in it with a save to his left. A Jacka free kick saw Josh Davies come close but the half saw no more opportunities. The next goal would prove pivotal and a rash challenge on 48 minutes saw Bettws convert the awarded penalty for 3-1. 57 minutes saw Pearce block well from a home right side attack while Jordan Jones came close at the far post after 72 minutes as Aber tried to take the game to their hosts. Within another 5 minutes Pearce again coped well with the help of his defence. A Jacka free kick was tipped over by the home 'keeper on 78 minutes, the same happening with 2 of the 90 minutes left. Substitute Cameran Sage supplied some fine footwork down Aber's left, fellow sub. Kellan Webb unable to convert a late chance. A disappointing result for Aberdare and their considerable following before returning to the Easy Panels Stadium on November 2nd when hosting AFC Wattstown at 2.00.
