Report by: Ray Pearce Photo by: Beth Kelly Photography This much anticipated local derby, after an early season 3-3 at the Easy Panels Stadium saw both sides well supported on a cold but relatively dry afternoon. Sam Weaver was absent with Josh Davies starting in central defence. The hosts attacked down the slope and hit the crossbar within 2 minutes. Continued efforts saw Aberdare concede corners, the 9th minute saw a glancing header from one of them to put Cwmbach ahead. By the 18th minute it was 2-0 as another in swinging corner was not dealt with for a close range finish. The away side almost conceded again just 5 minutes later as a home attempt hit the post. There were occasional moves forward by the visitors but Dylan Pearce was forced into good saves to keep the deficit to 2. Disappointment for the Aber contingent as first half added time saw yet another home corner easily knocked home for a 3 goal lead at the break. At half time Kellan Webb came on into central defence as Davies reverted to his midfield role. Better Aber attacks saw Luke Boyle brought down in the box on 56 minutes, Leon Jacka converting the penalty. Just after the hour Pearce made a flying save as Cwmbach broke forward. Eddie Santos then crossed for Boyle to head home but the whistle went for offside. A much better half for the visitors but the home No.1 was never severely tested. Cameran Sage and Logan Thomas came on as substitutes and showed some good touches. For the second consecutive game Aberdare suffered from a poor first half and again 'won' the second 45.
