Report by: Ray Pearce Photos by: Beth Kelly Photography Aber were once again involved in a high scoring contest as Aberaman Park saw a seven goal thriller against Clwb Cymric with Town losing out by a solitary goal. After the previous week's entertainment Aberdare welcomed Clwb Cymric on an overcast but dry afternoon. More changes to the home side with Jordan Jones, Liam Miles and Aaron Rowling coming in with Shay Welch's injury not clearing, Kellan Webb and Alex Adshead both unavailable, the latter to be congratulated on his upcoming marriage. With Aber attacking the Town end, a first minute header from Luke Boyle found the net but was adjudged offside.

The visitors went ahead on 3 minutes when a raid down the left was not dealt with and the ball driven home. Within 60 seconds a second error saw Clwb go 2-0 up with an easy finish. The quarter hour saw an away corner headed over, Boyle then winning a free-kick 30 yards out and Leon Jacka unlucky to see his attempt hit the far post. Aber were shell-shocked on 20 minutes as their visitors were quick to capitalize on hesitation for 3-0. Efforts by Jacka and Connor Berry were repulsed before a lifeline on 35 minutes as a home penalty was awarded for a foul. Jacka's spot kick was well saved by Clwb's No.1 diving low to his right. Dan Field started the second period in goal as Aber tried to rectify the situation. Jay Smith replaced the injured Jordan Jones, 55 minutes saw a fine Jacka ball from the right met by Berry racing in to score. Aberdare were now playing better football but 63 minutes saw Field penalized for a foul and Clwb netting the resulting penalty. Jacka was again unfortunate with a long range effort hitting the post. The guests seemed happy to sit back and hit their hosts on the break, a 68th minute header going over. A stunning free kick from 35 yards by Jacka in the 82nd minute screamed into the net for 2-4. Clwb missed a chance in the last of the 90 as the ball hit the Aber crossbar. There was still time as Boyle hit an excellent volley in the 93rd minute to make it 4-3. Sadly there was little time to get the equalizer, a fine second half performance after the dire first 45 from which lessons must be learned. Team: Callum Dunning (Daniel Field ‘46), Jordan Jones (Jay Smith ‘51), Jack Carlick, Sam Weaver, Liam Miles, Aaron Rowling, Leon Jacka, Josh Davies (Harri Jones ‘78), Connor Berry, Luke Boyle, Cameron Dean (Cameran Sage ‘88) Sub not used: Southern Rowlands
Player of the match Sam Weaver was awarded the player of the match on behalf of the match sponsor Steve Pearce
