Report by: Ray Pearce Photo by: Beth Kelly Photography Around 30 supporters traveled to leafy Treforest hoping new manager Dean Raven could inspire his squad at a difficult venue. Dan Field and Josh Davies returned to the starting line up while 3 new signings, David Iteke, Eddie Santos and Elton Injai were in the original chosen 11. After the impeccable 2 minutes silence for Remembrance, the 10th minute saw Santos set Luke Boyle in for a shot over the bar. Immediately the home side had an effort hit the Aber cross-bar with Field palming the rebound away. The useful home wing men stretched the away defence resulting in a dubious free kick on 28 minutes which rifled into the net for a 1-0 lead to Treforest. However, a Leon Jacka quickly taken 30 yard free kick on 41 minutes saw the home 'keeper unable to keep it out for an interval 1-1. The first effort of the second half saw Injai's attempt saved by the Treforest 'keeper, Field doing even better straight after with a flying save for a fruitless corner. The away following were ecstatic on 57 minutes as a raid down the left from Injai saw Boyle's flicked header parried by the home custodian only for Santos to notch his first for Aberdare and a 2-1 lead. Sadly, Treforest straight away raided down their left and the cross was not dealt with resulting in the equalizer. An Aber triple substitution followed on 70 minutes, Player of the Match Field making another super save on 73 minutes but the resulting corner was easily knocked home for a 3-2 home lead. Field again saved just 2 minutes later, Aber almost scoring on 86 minutes as a Jacka free kick was parried by the Treforest No.1. From then on the hosts employed simple game management to end the game at 3-2. Obvious disappointment for the loyal Aber contingent. hopefully a better outcome on Saturday 16th November when Llanrumney visit the Easy Panels Stadium for a 2.00 p.m. start.
