Report by: Ray Pearce Photo by: Beth Kelly Photography Aberdare hosted Treforest attempting to gain revenge for an earlier season close defeat, the guests not having won an away league game this season. A pleasant afternoon was enjoyed by the good attendance as Aber attacked the Town end. A rejigged home side due to unavailability of some regulars saw Luke Boyle (Player of the Match) have a fifth minute run from his unusual position in central defence but with no end result. Treforest had a 7th minute header over from close range after a right side cross. To the joy of the home contingent a 14th minute excellent cross from the left by Southern Rowlands was met by the onrushing Cam Sage to net from close in. Treforest were happy to keep 3 up front and a 26th minute free kick from their right was put just past Aber's post. The 39th minute saw an almighty scramble in the home 6 yard box with several blocks being made before Dylan Pearce was able to fall on the ball. Right on half time a left side Iestyn Thomas free kick saw the away 'keeper just managing to tip it away. The start of the second half saw the visitors playing keep ball while looking for an opening. 49 minutes saw Pearce keep out a left side free kick which resulted in 3 consecutive Treforest corners which were repelled. Another away foray 5 minutes later saw them hit the post and on the hour a move down their left saw a cross tapped home for the equalizer. A 63rd minute free kick from their right saw Pearce unable to keep out a close range finish as the visitors went 2-1 ahead. On 67 minutes it was 3-1 as the ball was not cleared for an easy finish. Despite Aber substitutions the away side were able to comfortably control the rest of the game with their No 1 not seriously troubled. Obviously a disappointing outcome for the hosts but the result enabled Treforest to move out of the bottom four. Saturday 29th March sees Aber visit Cardiff Cosmopolitan with a 2.15 start.
