Report by: Ray Pearce Photo by: Beth Kelly Photography A tough afternoon for Aberdare as they visited a Vale United side who had won 5 out of 6 home league fixtures. There were starts for Manager Dean Raven, Jack Salmon and David Ikete as the visitors started well down the slope on a chilly but dry day. Luke Boyle had a 5th minute shot deflected off the Vale post, a home corner on 17 minutes caused consternation but Ikete did well to head over his own crossbar for a fruitless corner. A fine Boyle pass on 23 minutes sent Cam Sage away down the right but his cross into the box evaded everyone. A home corner on 28 minutes saw Nyles Vaughan try to clear in a congested 6 yard area but the rebound was netted for 1-0 at the break. Early second half pressure saw Aber passes going astray as Vaughan tipped away home efforts. Various substitutions followed and a good Aber passing move saw Player of the Match Sage through the middle only to be ruled offside to the consternation of the visiting faithful following. Slackness in playing out of defence saw a 65th minute home attack with a comfortable finish for 2-0. Within 3 minutes it was 3-0 as another give away saw a close range effort into the net. On the 3 quarter hour mark a scramble in the Aber box saw blocked shots with the ball eventually falling to Vaughan. Any away attacks were repelled as the hosts comfortably saw out time with the home No.1 not tested all afternoon. Another disappointing day for all associated with Aberdare as bottom spot is retained. Saturday 15th February at 2.00 p.m. sees another hard away trip to take on Dinas Powys.
