A little piece of history happened in the final league game of the season on
Saturday at 4.05pm.
With Aberdare battling to pick up an important three points at Tongwynlais and holding a slender 1-0
advantage, Fin Williams was called back from his warm-up by manager Kellan Webb to enter the fray
for the final ten minutes.
As he crossed the white line to make his senior debut a piece of history was made as he became, we
believe, the very first player to have played in every age group within the Club including the youth
team and seniors.
His actual first ever goal for Aberdare was at Aberaman Park, aged six (shown in the photo above!)
Previously the likes of Dylan Pearce, Cam McHale, Harri Jones, Brychan Davies and Shay Welch had
completed almost all of the same feat however after checking, their first season was actually as
Aberdare Grasshoppers which was the year prior to the merger of the two clubs - however, they did
form the first ever Aberdare Town mini side so was also an amazing achievement.
Congratulations to Fin on making Club history!
At the presentation evening for the Under 16s on Friday evening, six players were all awarded Club
Caps having played through the mini and junior sections of the club - Jack Williams, Finley Jones,
Reegan Smith, Shay Hodges and Zac Gethin were the other five players.
With Jack Williams having already played for the senior side in the previous two games, he only has
to make one appearance for the youth team to also complete the clean sweep!
An amazing achievement to represent the Club for such a long period and we hope it will be for many
years to come.
