Aberdare Town is pleased to announce it has been awarded a grant of £6450 from
the Pen y Cymoedd Wind Farm Community Fund.
The grant will allow the club to improve its energy performance and sustainability at the Easy Panels
Stadium with a raft of improvements set for installation this summer in order for the facilities to be
used more.
Included in the works will be new LED lighting throughout the main building and changing rooms,
improved heating and hot water facilities, insulation, fascia boards, new alarm systems and a ceiling
mounted speaker set-up.
The works will enable the club to remove all the old and redundant electrical and water systems which
will also aid with statutory compliance and improved efficiency.
General Manager, Ian Pearce, said of the news “We would like to sincerely thank the Pen y Cymoedd
Wind Farm and Vattenfall for the award of this funding which will make a massive difference to us
both in terms of the improvements to the facilities appearance and also the first step in saving money
through the improved efficiency the new systems will give.
“We would also like to thank those who worked so hard on the project submission to make this
possible as without their help and initial work it wouldn’t have enabled us to get to this stage. Now the
work starts to get everything completed and turned around quickly”.
The Independent Pen y Cymoedd Wind Farm Community Fund CIC is responsible for managing the
£1.8 million a year fund set up by the European energy company Vattenfall, the operator of the Wind
Farm. The fund will be in place until at least 2042.
