This Danny Evans Memorial Cup tie saw Aberdare host Abercynon after the sides had drawn 2-2 earlier in the season. After two recent heavy defeats, the home side were hoping for better fortune but slumped to a 2-6 defeat. A dry but breezy afternoon saw Aberdare attack the Town end but went 1 down in the eighth minute when an in swinging corner from the visitors right was not dealt with and resulted in an easy finish. Just 2 minutes later, home No.1 Carwyn Webber did well to save at the expense of a corner which came to nothing. A good 17th minute run by Jayden Hopkins was thwarted before a 20th minute away attack down their right saw a cross and a thunderous drive for 2-0. Aberdare were back to a single goal deficit on 24 minutes as Lance Lewis sent Tyler Lewis in for a composed finish. However, the 29th minute saw Abercynon go 3-1 up when a 30 yard free kick was not dealt with and the ball blasted home. Aberdare got back to 2-3 on 31 minutes when, after a Hopkins run, Lance Lewis curled a 25 yard effort into the far corner. Soon a Lewis Reed free kick from distance went wide with no further incident in the first 45. All to play for in the second half as Abercynon immediately had a snap shot cleared for a fruitless corner. The visitors netted again but it was disallowed for a foul on Webber. A 53rd minute break from the away side saw Webber by-passed for a 4-2 lead. Rory Brown was on as a home substitute, later followed by Scott Watson and Ceri Jones. On the hour Webber saved another guests effort with his defence clearing away the melee. A Reed corner from the left saw Player-Manager Jordan Price head into the side netting. It was 2-5 on 72 minutes as another away run down their right saw the attempt stroked home. The final 2 substitutes, Nicky Morgan and Dai Owen, were introduced. After various yellow cards for the home side, poor defending on 80 minutes saw a 2-6 reversal after a too easy finish. Another chastening and heavy defeat for Aberdare when basic errors led to most of the away goals. A South Wales Cup Tie awaits on Saturday 17th October at 2.00 p.m. when entertaining Cardiff side Clwb Sparta. HALF SOAKED LAUNDRY MAN OF THE MATCH: Lance Lewis TEAM Carwyn Webber, Jon Williams, Rhys Davies (Scott Watson), Matt Parsons, Jordan Price, Jayden Hopkins (Nicky Morgan), Dre Evans, Lance Lewis (Rory Brown), Lewis Reed, Tyler Lewis (Dai Owen), Sion Budski (Ceri Jones) Sub not used: -
