After the sides had fought out a 3-3 draw earlier in the season a visit to Penywaun on a mercifully dry afternoon saw Aberdare go down to a 7-1 reverse. Three changes to the squad for Aber as the hosts exerted early pressure. The 7th minute saw a fine Jayden Hopkins run which was thwarted. Just 2 minutes later, Aber's 'keeper Carwyn Webber saved with his legs. A home corner hit the post but somehow stayed out. Penywaun went 1-0 up on 12 minutes as a left sided corner was headed home. Aberdare were level on 16 minutes as a Lewis Reed through ball sent Lance Lewis to beat the home No.1 and net. The home side were rapid in attack, a 23rd minute effort being flicked over the bar. Kai Davies had a 26th minute free kick cleared while Webber was still kept busy in the away goal. A terrific scramble in the home box in the 33rd minute saw Aber unable to knock home the loose ball. The 41st minute saw Aberdare not dealing with a home attack which they converted for a 2-1 lead. Right on half-time the hosts played a ball across the 6 yard box for an easy finish for 3-1. Ethan Fry and Rhys Walters were introduced from Aber's bench but the 59th minute saw an error at the back for Aberdare which the home side capitalised on for a 4-1 advantage. It was soon 5-1 as the physicality of the home side saw a break and another easy finish. Cayden Woodfield and Player-Manager Jordan Price entered the fray but it was 6-1 on 82 minutes as again Penywaun easily broke through to score. The last sub for the visitors, Nicky Morgan came on for the last few minutes as Aber went down to 8 men due to various misdemeanours. The 8th minute of added time saw Penywaun convert a penalty for the final 7-1 result. Obviously a chastening afternoon for all concerned with Aberdare. The chance for redemption comes on Saturday 26th September when hosting AFC Oak at 2,30.p.m. HALF SOAKED LAUNDRY MAN OF THE MATCH was Lance Lewis. TEAM Carwyn Webber, Sion Budski, Jon Williams, Dai Owen, Rhys Davies (Ethan Fry), Rory Brown, Dre Evans (Rhys Walters), Lance Lewis, Lewis Reed (Nicky Morgan), Jayden Hopkins (Cayden Woodfield), Kai Davies (Jordan Price) Sub not used: -
