A fine afternoon saw 4 changes to the Aberdare starting line-up. After good draws in their previous 2 games, another hard-fought match ended 2-2 when hosting AFC Abercynon - last years league runners-up. Aberdare attacked the Town end, the visitors having an early 35 yard free kick held by home 'keeper Carwyn Webber. Abercynon went 1-0 up after 3 minutes when a left side break saw the effort slotted in from a narrow angle. A home corner was cleared to a marauding away attack which Webber thwarted. Immediately, the visitors hit the top of their hosts cross-bar. Two more away efforts were knocked wide or headed over before Aberdare's Lance Lewis set up Tyler Lewis for an attempt that flicked off the cross-bar. Abercynon were quick to have more efforts which they missed or Player of the Match Webber saved. Sporadic home forays saw one close range scramble cleared from the Abercynon line but the interval saw the visitors with a deserved 1-0 lead The start of the second-half saw the guests continue to break through at will, only to be thwarted by Webber or inaccurate finishes. Aberdare introduced players from the bench to try and stem the tide, the 70th minute saw Jon Williams cross from the right to Lance Lewis who set up Player-Manager Jordan Price for a composed leveller. End to end attacks saw Abercynon regain the lead on 87 minutes when a cross from their left saw a close-range header find the net. The away No.1 made a fine save on 90 minutes to keep his side ahead, but a final home attack saw the 'keeper unable to grasp the ball with Lance Lewis hooking home the equaliser to the delight of the stand and dugout alike. Despite the statistics showing the away side had most of the attempts, Aberdare never gave up to clinch a third successive draw and almost clinched a winner in the last seconds but Lewis was denied. No fixture scheduled for Saturday 12th September, the next action is a tough away fixture at Penywaun on Saturday 19th September at 2.30.
