Another warm evening saw Aberdare hosting the current league and cup winners AFC Llwydcoed Reserves in front of another excellent attendance but suffered a subsequent 1-5 defeat Some changes to the home squad due to unavailability while there were inclusions of recent signings Rory Brown, Liam Beynon and Rhys Walters as Aber defended the Town end while our visitors had the luxury of calling on several first team squad players. Early away attacks down their right saw a seventh minute corner break to a visiting player but the shot was wide. The 13th minute saw Aber go 1 up as a home free kick from Lewis Reed was cleared to Sion Budski who sent a screamer past a helpless 'keeper from 30 yards. After a hydration break, a Llwydcoed effort was cleared off the line, stoic home defending continuing to thwart the visitors. Sadly for Aber, home No.1 Carwyn Webber lost possession for an easy finish by Ricky Carter to make it 1-1. Immediately, Webber saved an effort, his opposite number rushing from his goal to clear a home attack to leave it all- square at the break. An early away chance was blocked by Webber, the subsequent corner headed over. The 53rd minute saw a fine away run down their left end with a cross which was comfortably converted for 2-1 by Callum Henry. It was 3-1 on 58 minutes as a rash challenge in Aber's penalty area saw the opportunity netted by Henry. Aber introduced substitutes to try and get back into the game but the 78th minute saw another effort from the visitors left, Webber saving only for the rebound to be netted by Tomos Reed. Lance Lewis made a good run into the away box but Aber attacks were repelled. Coed had the final say as Reed made it 5-1 in the 87th minute as another left side raid saw a simple finish. Obviously, a disappointing result for the hosts, but should not be too despondent as their guests fielded a side containing some first teamers from a much higher standard.
