With Aber being forced into 5 changes to the starting line-up from the previous game, on a dry afternoon, saw a hard-fought win 1-0 at FC Cwmaman Reserves. The first minute saw Aber No.1 Carwyn Webber make a triple save to deny their hosts - with each subsequent save being better than the previous. Aber attacks were thwarted, the home side thinking they had scored on 11 minutes but were adjudged offside. 13 minutes saw them hit their visitors crossbar and after a home player had suffered a nasty shoulder injury, a Jayden Hopkins run fed Kai Davies whose shot went to the home 'keeper. A Cwmaman break saw Rhys Davies get back well to block, Southern Rowlands getting well down the left, Lance Lewis taking it on but the effort was cleared. A nice Aber build-up saw Kai Davies send his attempt wide to leave it at 0-0 at the break. Stern words at half time from the Aber coaching staff certainly had the desired effect as they started started the second half well, Rowlands good run stopped at the expense of a corner which was cleared close to the hosts line. Lewis Reed's close range effort was soon denied by the home 'keeper. After Webber had made a swift double save, the 55th minute saw an adjudged penalty area foul on Aber's Nicky Morgan, Matt Parsons powering home the spot kick for a 1-0 lead. On 65 minutes the home custodian did well to thwart Aber efforts, the home side going close at the other end with a rasping shot just wide. On as one of all 5 Aber substitutes used, Player-Manager Jordan Price had a 70th minute run down the left put behind for a corner which was dealt with. No further alarms as the final whistle saw Aberdare's 1-0 win. A thoroughly enjoyable contest between teams giving it their all and Aber’s third clean sheet in their opening four league games.
